Goa, 12 April 2011, the private bus owners have called for indefinite hunger strike in the Goa from 12th April 2011, they had various long time pending demands that includes review of half ticket scheme to students and identify verification etc.

AGPBOA (All Goa Private Bus Owners Association) Secretary Sudip Tamankar expressed that the 7 day notice submitted to Goa state Government, it was crossed the period on Monday and as proposed the Goa Private Bus Owners Association members will go on a hunger strike from Tuesday dated 12th April 2011. General Secretary and his company is on an indefinite strike, at the same time the other members will be on a chain hunger strike opposite to the transport director's office in Panjim.

The 3 day hunger strike will be continued by an indefinite bus strike in Goa, in case Goa Government ignore to process their demands by April 14 2011, Secretary said. The Association submitted its notice to the Government on 5th April 2011. There are fifteen demands and few of them from the Association is that the 50% concession permitted to students in the Goa State must be verified, reviewed with certain riders to curb its misuse. The Government had granted 50% concession in tickets to the student organization in 1978 after massive agitation by the students' union in the Goa State.

Speaking with media, General Secretary said that many bogus Identity Cards has cropped up affecting their ticket collections. Tamankar said the scheme should be reviewed and concession should be granted only on school routes within a specific time period. "Either the Government should stamp identity cards or AGBOA should be given the right to certify them as genuine", Tamankar said.
