Pilots (ICPA) refused for landing in Goa

Indian Commercial Pilots Association won't allow to land flights in Goa airport due to bad runway lighting and improper GP glide path and IPCA's main concern is of passengers safety and flight safety. Many Airlines / flights are rescheduling their time to land in Goa temporarily.

Goa, 11th April 2011, the Pilots Association issued an order on Monday night avoiding pilots to land in Goa airport. Pilots those who are from the Indian Commercial Pilots Association won't allow to land at Goa Airport runway until landing aids such as GP glide path are in place and runway lights are rich. The runway is under maintenance everyday few hours as per Goa airport authority.

As per the directives received from ICPA, they even concerns over passenger safety and aircraft safety during landing and take-off, time being and until its maintenance over, pilots those from the Indian Commercial Pilots Association barring landing at Goa Airport.

What are the problems in Goa runway?

Goa Dambolim airport, there is a problem with the PAPI - runway lights and GP glide path are not in place, it is under maintenance, Goa airport authority has announced that flights are not permitted to land at a particular time at the airport.

As per source, Goa airport and landing runway is under maintenance for few hours every day and it will take few weeks for the repairs, it is just for 2 to 3 hours a day that one cannot land in Goa. Most of the Airlines are rescheduling their time to land in Goa as it is Safety as paramount.
