Brief about Sir M Visvesvaraya and Engineering day in India
Sir Visvesvaraya, or Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya well known as Sir Visvesvaraya, and he was born 15th September 1860 in Muddenahalli, Chikballapur taluk, Kolar district, Karnataka state, India. Indian usually celebrates as Engineer Day on his birthday 15th September.
Sir M Visvesvaraya's education
Sir Visvesvaraya, after his school days, he then joined Central College in Bangalore for his higher study on graduation. Few may be surprised to know that he was instrumental to experiment and find out the sandalwood soap from Bangalore. He was genius in his field; he committed that his contributions made significant including Mysore sandal soap.
Sir M Visvesvaraya's achievement
Sir Visvesvaraya was also responsible for many achievements and few of them is Krishnarajasagara Dam, Mysore university, Mysore soap factory, Bhadravati Iron steel works and Mysore sandal oil factory etc. He was received honor as Bharath Ratna Award in 1955 and became the greatest son of India.
Honors for Sir M Visvesvaraya
Sir Visvesvaraya received other honors as, Honorary continuous membership of London institution of Civil Engineers for 50 years, honored companion of the Indian Empire, Honored from Dsc Calcutta university and many other universities in India, honored life member of Institution of Engineering India etc.
Sir M Visvesvaraya's service
Sir Visvesvaraya, he was in services too, he rendered services at various projects, he was Assistant Engineer – Bombay Government service, Chief Engineer in Hyderabad state, Secretary – Railways, President – Education and Industrial development committees of Mysore state, Member – Back Bay enquiry committee, London, to make recommendations future of Indian states, Member Tata Iron and Steel Company and Dewan of Mysore for six years etc.
Sir Visvesvaraya lived very simple life and he was punctual, honesty and dedication were an excellent.
Sir Visvesvaraya died on 12th April 1962 when he was around 102 years old.
