The main purpose of Internet browsing is, one need to know the information from his/her point of interest which he/she doesn't know at that time or like to know more than what they knows little, so, first Internet uses for Knowledge then rest, since Internet browsing is friendly and becoming popular, so, even illiterate try show their interest as it is easy to go through it.
There are plenty of sites which just gives us information both true and false info, and, there are few sites that provide required information with paying to its members for contribution.
It is totally based on the purpose of the site created by the webmaster.
Also, it is totally based on the individual visitor's choice to stick on it whether it could be for knowledge or it could be for earning only etc.
